Toastmaster Sending a Cow to Africa
Send a Cow Ambassador is facing another challenge of a lifetime as she gears up to cross the South Downs with her dog Max.

Meg, is celebrating reaching 60 in March, she is usually seen hosting speed networking events in Sussex or organising her local speaking club agenda. In May she will be starting out on the 100 mile journey from Eastbourne to Winchester, it was the first long distance bridleway but Meg has decided to walk it rather than take the bike.

I cycled across Israel to celebrate reaching 50 and raised £4,500 for a charity called Aspire" says Meg. "hat was the last time I got any serious exercise, reaching 60 has reminded me that life is for living, and with the help of Roland from Fitnatherapy I am getting fit enough to do the distance in one go".
"Max is enjoying me getting up every day at 6 a.m. to go for an up hill walk before work. And I've had to knock the alcohol, steak and chips on the head. I must be mad!

The hard work will all be worthwhile for Meg if she succeeds in raising £2,000 for The Send a Cow Charity which is enough to buy a farm for a community in one of the nine countries Send a Cow work in within Africa.

"When I visited the farmers in Uganda in 2007 to see the charity in action I realised that a tiny piece of giving by me caused a huge wave of hope for them. Having a cow, training and hope makes all the difference to them," Meg explained. "I didn't know much about the conditions in Africa and had no idea what sort of help or support was available to the farmers until I came across Send a Cow when looking for something different to do with my speaking skills."

"I was put in touch with the training section of Send A Cow and I have not looked back since. It has been such a privilege to raise awareness about Send A Cow through the talks I give and now I want to do a bit more. I don’t need any cards or presents from my family and friends and thought that raising money for Send A Cow would be a much better way of celebrating life"

Meg is well known in Sussex for her work as host of the Speed Networking events, founder of two speaking clubs Worthing Speakers in Worthing and Eastbourne Speakers in Eastbourne. and through her bell ringing in Seaford St Leonard's Church and she is hoping the local community will support her in her marathon challenge.

"Think of it a few pounds off for me will be a few pounds more for them and will make a huge difference and that means that Send A Cow can help yet more poor families become independent."
